To display KML on google maps you should serve your KML and KMZ files on public IP address (live URL). Some of my recommended techniques are:-

  • Create a folder and mark it for public access.
  • Use the Upload link to upload your KML files into this folder without conversion and shared with the world.
  • Go to the Download link, copy it, and paste it into the Google Maps search box.

How to open a KML file in google earth

If you have a KML file from previous versions of Google Earth, you can view the saved places in Google Earth on the web. Find the below steps:-

    • First, to view KML files, click Menu -> Settings -> Enable KML file import.
    • Your saved places will only appear on the device on which you saved them.
  1. Using Google Chrome on your computer, open Google Earth.
  2. On the left, click My Places.
  3. Click Import KML file.
  4. Choose the location of the file you want to upload.
  5. Select and open the KML file. A preview of the list will open in Google Earth.
  6. To keep these places in your list, click Save.

The locations will be saved to My Places.
