Command to check dot net framework version
There is an easier way to get the exact version .NET version installed on your machine from a cmd prompt. Just follow the following instructions;
Open the command prompt (i.e Windows + R → type “cmd”) and type the following command, all on one line: %windir%\Microsoft.NET\FrameWork, and then navigating to the directory with the latest version number.
Once in the directory with the latest version number, run the command \MSBuild.exe -version. This command will output the latest version installed in the following format:
- Type cd C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319
- Execute MSBuild.exe -version command
The following information will appear:
Microsoft (R) Build Engine version 4.6.1590.0
[Microsoft .NET Framework, version 4.0.30319.42000]
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
The last line, after the copyright, will output the most recent versions of .NET Framework on your computer, for example, 4.6.1038.0
You can also use the alternative ways to determine which .net framework versions are installed using MSDN:: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/migration-guide/how-to-determine-which-versions-are-installed#net_d
